Letters from Kenya (photos to come soon!)

Hi Neal,
I am having a beam of happiness for you have chosen to be my friend.

Is your country divided into provinces like ours? When I will complete my education, I would like to be a good electrician, how about you? I am educated as a Christian and I would like to know your religion, and who is the head of state in Canada. In Kenya the head of state is the president, who is Hon. Mwai Kibaki. In my home area the vegetation is savanna grassland, how about your home area in Canada?

Please send me your photo.

Yours sincerely,

George

Dear Michael,

Being a peer educator is a very hard work because someone usually go to a teaching and then after coming back to your real school, you teach your fellow students. Teaching our peers is very hard work because some pulpils will ignore your teaching because you are young like they are.

Would you mind to be my friend? How is the weather in Canada?

Please send me your picture. In Canada do you usually learn a Kiswahili lesson?

My favourite tongue twister is Kantai Can tie a tie if Kantai can tie a tie why can’t you tie your tie.

Please send me your favourite tongue twister!

Paul Kamau

Dear Egan,

Hi! Egan. Am so glad to have you as my ally. I like making as many friends as possible. KCPE means Kenya Certificate of Primary Education which is an exam done after one completes his/her primary education. In Kenya, we have the 8-4-4 system of education: the first 8 years in primary school, 4 in secondary school, and the other four in a university or college What about Cina? Could you please tell me more about it?

Our staple food here at Karima is called githeri. It consists of boiled maize and beans. Karima is a good place to be. Which is your staple food? I also like reciting tongue twisters. Here is my favourite:

“ A little chunk of junk is a chunky chunk of junk and not a cunky junky junk of chunk

Next send me your favourite tonue twister and a photo!

Yours sincerely,

Veronicah
